About
Viaduct theatre, named after our town’s mighty landmark, is Stockport’s very own pop-up fringe theatre company. Founded by Maureen O’Neill and Helen O’Hara and showcasing local talent in particular, we aim to extend the excellent Greater Manchester Fringe theatre scene and bring first-class independent theatre 7 miles further down the A6 to Stockport.
Past Productions
In 2018, we produced 2 sold-out shows at the Hatworks Museum: Playing God by Mike Heath (28.2-3.3.2018), which received an excellent review from Northern Soul and China Plates & Pearl Earrings by Jade Jones (17-21.7.2018, reviewed here).
With China Plates & Pearl Earrings we won Best Drama at the Greater Manchester Fringe Awards 2018. To win this award in the most competitive category, against more than 50 other shows, is a huge achievement for any professional theatre company but as this was Viaduct Theatre’s first entry in the festival, we are particularly proud of this achievement.
The same production was also nominated for Most Innovative Use of Space, as it was performed in the round in the Hatworks’ community room.
